Upgrading to Movable Type 3.0

My upgrade from MT 2.65 to 3.01D went pretty much without a hitch. I was hoping it would update my Category, Archive and Individual templates but that was a manual process. So far it's at least twice as good as the old 2.65 version. Kudos to Six Apart!

Moving from movable type to WordPress

I have contemplated this for sometime and just may do it.

"Mena says It’s about time, and I can’t agree more. It’s about time Movable Type users moved to WordPress."

    Aggie : news aggregator

I was browsing the web for a .NET news aggregator and I cam across
Aggie. Looks promising enough, I'll let you know how it goes.

    Wiki Import Tools

Ever since I set up the new Wiki, I have been looking for an import tool. Basically I need to import existing HTML documentation. If something exists, drop me a line.

    Weblogs over XML-RPC

I wrote a little blurb a couple of weeks ago about publishing weblogs over XML-RPC, and lo and behold I stumbled across XML-RPC.NET which has a very nice .NET framework that can do such a thing. I also found this article which is basically a demo of how to implement the library.

    What exactly is a weblog?

Here's an intresting article from the Harvard boys, that attempts to define some common elements, requirements and simple definition of a 'weblog'.

At Berkman we're studying weblogs, how they're used, and what they are. Rather than saying "I know it when I see it" I wanted to list all the known features of weblog software, but more important, get to the heart of what a weblog is, and how a weblog is different from a Wiki, or a news site managed with software like Vignette or Interwoven. I draw from my experience developing and using weblog software (Manila, Radio UserLand) and using competitive products such as Blogger and Movable Type. This piece is being published along with my keynotes at OSCOM and the Jupiter weblogs conference. And a disclaimer: This is a work in progress. There may be subsequent versions as the art and market for weblog software develops. Dave Winer, June 2003, Cambridge MA.

    Weblog Publication via SOAP

It's interesting, I have found very little about SOAP Remote Publication (Not Subscription, Folks) for weblogs. Mostly I've stumbled upon Subscription based methods, such as blogToaster, Subscriber Interface for weblogs.com and Reflecting weblogs.com 'ping's with SOAP, Jabber, and Pubsub. And some weblog aggregators: Sharpreader, Feedreader, Newsgator, etc. Surely, there must be something out there. Anyone?

    PostNuke Sucks?

Could it be that PostNuke and PHPNuke actually suck? It seems like times are a changin' and the so-called inventors of blogging software haven't kept up. I used to run PostNuke, I eventually decomissioned and sucked all the content out of the pile of junk. I was running it for more than a year, but decided it was time for a healthy change. Adios Nukers, and say hello to my leetle friend!
